Stump grinding uses a machine with a cutting wheel to chew a stump down below the soil surface. The stump turns into wood chips that can fill the hole or be hauled away. MG Tree Service grinds stumps for homeowners in Richmond and nearby towns, either after a removal or for stumps that have been sitting in the yard for years.
Stump Grinding
A stump looks harmless until you hit it with the mower, trip over it in the dark or watch it sprout new shoots every spring. Old stumps also rot slowly and can attract insects, and in a small Richmond backyard they take up space you could be using.
Grinding is the fastest way to get rid of a stump without tearing up the whole yard. We grind the stump and the main surface roots, then leave the grindings in the hole or haul them away, depending on what you plan to do with the spot.
