MG Tree Service trims, removes and grinds stumps for homeowners in Glen Allen and western Henrico County, including Twin Hickory, Wyndham and the neighborhoods around Innsbrook and Short Pump. Many jobs here are in HOA communities, so the focus is on clean work, tidy beds and a yard that looks finished when we leave.
Glen Allen, VA
Most Glen Allen neighborhoods were built from the late 1980s through the 2000s, and the trees planted then are now full size. The maples and pears that looked small by the driveway are touching the gutters, the river birches by the patio have doubled, and the wooded buffers along the back of the lots have grown tall and thick.
That is why the most common Glen Allen calls are trimming and cleanup rather than emergency removals: lifting limbs off the roof, thinning trees that shade out the lawn, taking out a pear that started to split, and refreshing tired mulch beds. When a tree does need to come out, it is usually because it was planted too close to the house or a storm damaged it.
Because so many Glen Allen homes sit in HOA communities, appearance matters. Clean cuts, no ruts in the lawn, beds put back together and the street left clear are part of every job.

Subdivision landscaping from twenty or thirty years ago is reaching maturity. These are the trees we work on most.

Planted close to houses and driveways, now crowding roofs and lifting edges.
Fast-growing, messy and often too close to patios and walks.
Tall trees in the wooded strip behind the house that lean toward the open yard.
What we do here
Good to know
Many Glen Allen neighborhoods have an HOA with architectural guidelines, and some require approval before removing a tree, especially in common areas or buffers. It is a good idea to check your covenants before the job. If your HOA wants details, we can describe the work so you can submit the request.
For a normal tree on a private residential lot in Henrico County, a permit is usually not required. Trees in common areas belong to the HOA, and trees along public roads may belong to the county or VDOT, so those are handled through them.
Glen Allen lots are usually accessible from the driveway, so the chipper stays on the pavement and the lawn stays in good shape. We put down extra care on irrigation heads and landscape lighting, which are common in these yards.
